Using fnCentral
|
| What is a Category in fnCentral? |
Categories are 'classification' of your account information. Identifying
and setting up income/expense based on categories help you to generate
reports that give you a picture of where your money is being spent. Also
during tax time, this is formatted into an easy to prepare tax form.
Example categories include "Rent", "Education", "Automobile", "Medical", etc.
You can also create your own categories in fnCentral.
|
| Can I use my consultant id to login as a user? |
No. For maintenance reasons, fnCentral maintains the accounts separately. You need to register again as a user.
|
| My financial institution does not allow me to export more than 60 days of data. What should I do? |
The hard way is to talk to them and get the rest of the data. The easy way is to create an entry in fnCentral as "opening balance" and set your balance to what it was just before the 60 days. This way, the accounts would tally, even though you do not have the actual transaction information before the 60 day time period.

Security
|
| How Secure is fnCentral? |
fnCentral takes great care to protect your personal financial data.
We use the latest security technology, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for
securing Internet transactions. All our servers are also protected by
firewalls. Only authorized personal have access to the servers holding
your data.
|
| Can a government agency look at my data? |
A government agency with a valid court order can get access
to any individuals data (this is true of Banks and other
financial institutions as well). However, we do not collect
or store any 'identifiable' information except an email.
If you are worried about anonymity, use one of the free email
providers and create yourself an account and register at
fnCentral using that Email.

Trouble Shooting
|
| Why does "Download Data" on Internet Explorer 5 show the 'loading' icon? |
IE5 has a problem that shows the 'loading icon' even after the data is
downloaded. We have communicated the problem to Microsoft. This is more
of an 'irritant' than a real problem and you can continue to use the
download or other options using IE5.
|
| Why does OFC export not work with Money 2000? |
Money 2000 does not recognize 'Account Type: Other'. We have communicated
the problem to Microsoft. You can use the QIF download and import it into
Money 2000.
|
| Why does QIF import from Money 2000 show wrong dates? |
Money 2000 has a bug that exports date in the system date format (while QIF always should be in mm/dd/yy). To fix this problem, go to date setting in Windows and change format to M/dd/yy and then export the data.
